5th international photography festival Organ Vida - calls for submissions on the theme Spaces

Zagreb March 18th - Submissions are now being accepted for the 5th international photography festival Organ Vida and will close on May 1st. The overall theme of this year's contest is Spaces. The results will be available on the Organ Vida webpage in the beginnning of June 2013.
This year the festival keeps its documentary character but with a specific focus on the subject of spaces.

Space is 'a boundless three-dimensional extent in which objects exist and events occur and have relative position and direction'. Together with time, it is a fundamental category of the existence of material world.

Space can be scenery for anger, fear or joy, and its location can be inscribed into one person, an entire nation or a historical moment. Spaces can be physical locations in which individuals daily meet and pass each other by without a word, or they can be spiritual in which those individuals' mental images intertwine yearning for communication or fictional worlds. Spaces can be private and intimate, containers of narrations in which we store our memories, but also non-places where we leave our memories at the entrance and surrender ourselves to the here and now, says the selection panel of this year's festival.

Submissions are open to both Croatian citizens and citizens of all countries and all nationalities of legal age who should apply with documentary projects on the stated theme comprised of at least three (3) and not more than twenty (20) photographs. A written statement about the project and the author needs to accompany the photographs. // Submission form //

Chosen projects will be exhibited in Bacva gallery (Croatian Association of Visual Artists) for the duration of the festival and in the festival catalogue. An international selection panel of five members will choose the finalists and the winners: Munem Wasif (Bangladesh), Ivana Tomanović (Serbia), Petra Belc (Croatia), Boris Cvjetanović (Croatia) and Matjaž Brulc (Slovenia).

The 5th Organ Vida festival will take place in Kino Europa and Bacva gallery in Zagreb from 16th to 21st September 2013.

Kirill Golovchenko pobjednik 4.

4. Međunarodni festival fotografije Organ Vida održao se u kinu Europa i Galeriji Karas od 15. do 17. lipnja, a festival organizira fotografska udruga Organ Vida.
