6th International Photography Festival Organ Vida ended with success!
-Two weeks dedicated to photography-
- From September 26 – October 10 at seven festival locations-
- Seven exhibitions, three panels, lectures, artist talks, workshops-
-Main exhibition of ten finalists of the international contest with over 200 works-
-Festival reading corner, photography quiz, performances, interactive installation-
With the closing of the last two exhibitions at Siva Galerija at Medika and at Aplauz kulturna produkcija, the 6th edition of the International Photography Festival Organ Vida has officially ended. The exhibitions presented works created during the workshops by George Georgiou and Saša Kralj.
Through 14 intensive days at 7 festival locations numerous visitors had the opportunity to experience the exciting medium of photography, and Zagreb became the center of an international meeting of contemporary documentary photography.
A rich program filled with exhibitions, concerts and a theoretical section took place for two weeks, and the main exhibition Reflections showed the works of the finalists of this year’s international contest. A number of eminent names from the international photography scene visited Zagreb on this occasion; jury members, finalists as well as a large number of local and foreign visitors.
Leading Dutch educator Corinne Noordenbos, photo editor of the London Financial Times Weekend Magazine Emma Bowkett, documentary photographer George Georgiou, professor at the new York International Center of Photography Irina Rozovsky, photographers Ben Smith and Justin Barton and the finalists of the Reflections exhibition Olga Ingurazova, Egor Rogalev, Willie Osterman and Guy Martin discussed their photography projects and work within the photographic profession. Local experts also participated at the panels: Sandra Vitaljić, Darije Petković, Jelena Blagović, Tonči Valentić, Igor Kuduz, Leila Topić, Marina Benažić, Iva Prosoli, Marko Ercegivić, Ana Opalić, Ivana Vučić, Marina Viculin, Hrvoje Gržina, Davor Horvat, Leonida Kovač and Marija Tonković.
Organ Vida was a wonderful surprise as a local festival on photography that was so well organized and with a very high quality of work exhibited. As an expert meeting it held wonderful panel discussions between professionals from all over the world on currents issues in the field of documentary photography. Also one could enjoy many artist talks that gave a variety of important information for everyone present. The fact that the organization was able to get so many high standard experts to Zagreb, made it into a very intense meeting, which is so important to us all, but above all to the local community. Last but not least all efforts were done to network with the professionals in the cultural field of Croatia, which gave us, as invites a very good impression of the fantastic work done in your country.
